Environmentally Preferred Materials
Responsible Sourcing & Transportation
End-of-Life Responsibility
The GoLite index is a report card we developed that measures each of our products against our social and environmental impact goals. By using our sustainable design principles along with rigorous grading criteria, we assess the impact of 100% of our products. We score each product in three major areas: Environmentally Preferred Materials, Responsible Production, and Education & End-of-Life Programs. These categories get at the environmental quality of the materials we use, the human rights performance of the factory where the product was made, and the responsibility we take for our product's end-of-life. Check it out and let us know what you think. We’re listening.
Backpacker's Editor's Choice "Green Award"
GoLite has been honored with Backpacker Magazine's 2010 Editors’ Choice Award, for its extensive use of Tier 1 recycled fabrics. Read all about it in the Press Release section of "The Meaning of Lite".
Dyneema®
Dyneema® The fabric of choice for our standard-setting UltraLite Series packs, our exclusive Dyneema® Gridstop weave combines 100% nylon base yarn with Dyneema fibers to deliver the strongest, lightest, performance pack fabric ever produced. Dyneema fibers have a strength-to-weight ratio that is 15 times better than high tensile steel, making this fabric incredibly difficult to tear.
comPACKtor™
The comPACKtor™ system makes your pack far more versatile by enabling you to reduce your pack's volume through the use of two fixed compression anchor clips and adjustable side compression straps. With the comPACKtor™ system engaged, your pack is instantly transformed from a lightweight multi-day carrying system into a day-tripper or peak-bagger with smaller profile and volume.
Recycled Content
Our newly developed Tier 1 recycled polyester and nylon materials test to the same high standards as their conventional, non-recycled alternatives. We use them whenever possible because of the massive reductions in energy use and resource consumption required to produce them vs. the virgin, petroleum-based alternatives. More information can be found under ‘Performance Technology’ within ‘The Meaning of Lite’ section of this website.
